Casa Equis

Location: Canete, Peru
Year Completed: 2003
Program: Residence
Area: 1,873 sf

Built in 2003 and located in CaƱete, Peru, this residential house lies in the dusty desert area between the Andes Mountains and the ocean. With a moderate climate and temperatures ranging from 14 degrees Celsius to 29 degrees celsius year round, Barclay & Crousse had the ability to construct something that is complimentary to the surrounding land.

With the intent to integrate with the landscape, the residence is painted the color of ochre/sand, which helps the subtractive building form to not visually age with time.

The terrace and pool relate to eachother, creating an artificial ocean, and the living and dining areas are like a weightless beach umbrella. Bedrooms of the residence are below the terrace on the lower level.
