N.02 – Spring 2018 Issue – Certainly Uncertain

CERTAINLY UNCERTAIN

“Uncertainty in design creates opportunities to engage in the exploration of invisible problems.”

How do we conceptualize and make for the indefinite and unstable? What happens when we are tasked with designing for an uncertain future? Uncertainty in design creates opportunities to engage in the exploration of invisible problems.

This ambiguity transcends existing frameworks and processes while considering what could be rather than what should be. For this issue of And So, we are investigating how uncertainty pushes us to look beyond tangible things towards alternative questions or systems as they may exist in the future, thereby allowing more room for our experimentation and critique.
