Wim Crouwel discusses in Type Design for the Computer Age how typography reflects the cultural context of the relative time period, but that our present time is thinking far beyond what is happening now. This is true. We are mentally increasing our speed, thinking faster than time. We are constantly thinking about the future and predicting how developments in technology can affect our future as designers and what we should be learning next to stay current. If we were to stand still and design a typeface for right now, what do you think today would look like?
I think today’s typeface would be blurry because everyone is moving so fast.
