If I proposed the argument that lack of sleep affects note taking skills, I would present the following evidence that, in fact, the legibility and neatness of notes is affected by lack of sleep. Below you will find example A (Monday notes : i.e. following plenty of weekend sleep) versus example B (Friday notes : after a LONG week of LATE NIGHTS). I must admit, I kind of like the Friday notes the best.
